Letter from a survivor from the earthquake (translated):
April 16, 2016 The Earthquake Day
Letter |
It all began at 6:50 pm. We were near the park and I kneeled down, crying I saw the buildings began to collapse, we ran to our house and with our family ran to the soccer field where we were told to wait for the tsunami. Fear struck me when two boys ran by saying “Here comes the tsunami!!!”.
We were altogether, little by little the field was filled with people, all of us crying. When I woke up, they told me that my brother, Walter was dead. When I looked at the building he was in, I saw him dead, suffocated by the debris. I couldn’t believe that my brother was dead.

As part of their McGiver Class, several Christ for the Nations Colombia students founded an organization called “Tu Eres Ciudad International”. The students come from several nations but have One God. To show their solidarity, they joined together to support survivors of the earthquake in Ecuador. An international team of about 15 students traveled to Ecuador to offer counsel, prayer, medical services, and personal hygiene kits to the survivors. The students made up of photographers, a doctor, a dentist, and beauticians were from Colombia, Ecuador, Venezuela, and Salvador, shared 664 personal hygiene kits, 1500 articles of clothing as well as ministered Christ’s love with the victims. They prayed with 2550 individuals to receive Christ as their savior.
