Nations Ablaze Int

In June, Twenty-five Christ for the Nations students traveled to the Amazon River Basin. The goal is to make a long-term impact in the region and in the lives of these next gen leaders.   Here are some of the results. Problem:   In Puerto Alegre several people have gotten sick from drinking river water and recently a child died from drinking the water. Solution:   The team raised finances and installed 22 water tanks to collect clean rain water.   Problem:    The church has attracted elderly people and are not reaching the youth Solution:   A youth congress for the young people in the communities.   The CPN students invited young people from several communities.   They provided all the meals for 100 young people and taught them how to live passionately for Christ.   Some of the students traveled a half a day on the river to get to the congress.   All left with a new passion for Christ. It’s Better to Give than to Receive While many were relaxing and enjoying the holiday season, several of our students took the advantage of the time off of studying to do evangelism and give out of the overflow of what they’ve received here at CPN. We had a group that went to Amazons and served in several of the communities there! Also others put on a Christmas event with food and worship for the homeless with our newly founded program, Adopt a Friend, and still others dedicated time to serve in their home churches. Graduate Jhonatan Barragan helped orchestrate the 80k conference held in his home church in Girardot, Colombia. The vision of this event was to equip the believers of Girardot with a goal to spread the gospel to reach 80,000 within the city.  Our worship director, Héctor Sandoval, was the main worship leader of the event and was accompanied by a few of our students! CFNI Grad in the Senate! Christ for the Nations Colombia (CPN)  not only prepares young people for the mission field but students are encouraged to dream about how they fit into God's plan.   Charlie Calle  was a student at CPN 5 years ago.  He had taken a leave of absence from his Engineering studies to seek God.  During his year at CPN, God impressed on him to study Political Science.   Now, he just graduated and is working with a well known Christian senator to defend the family.  He stopped in the CPN office last week to thank us for helping him hear from God for direction for his life.  Then he showed us a video taken last week when he made a presentation to the Colombian senate.  It was impressive to see the elderly senators all listening to this young man giving his discourse.  We need more Christian voices being heard in these volatile days!!! Praise God for the variety of callings!!!

 While in Condoto, Colombia, God allowed us to visit a school and talk to hundreds of young people about salvation and God's unconditional love for them. Standing in the middle of a football field girls lined up to open up their heart and tell us the difficult situations they live at home and ask for prayer. A girl, about 12 years old, came with a hoarse voice and face overshadowed from crying.  While I was hugging her very tight, I reminded her how much God loved her, how much he cared, and no matter the situation, Father God would take care of her and protect her. I was struck by how a girl overwhelmed by fear generated by seeing her mother suffer physical and emotional abuse from her partner, can feel loved, protected and be filled with His peace, only through a simple hug. My name is Rebekah Hall and I am 19 years old. Right now I am serving as a missionary at Christ for the Nations along with studying. Honestly my first two days in Amazons I didn’t like it at all. I felt like I wasn’t supposed to be there and I really just wanted to go home; however, after those two days, the Lord completely wrecked my heart. I was serving most of the time in the village of Zaragoza and I fell in love with the people there. We did many activities with the kids, youth, women, and men, but we also made a priority of doing house visits. The house visits were one of my favorite parts because we actually went to where the people were and talked and prayed with them in their normal habitat instead of having them come to us.  There’s one word we really like to use with missions and it’s “flexibility.” We went with a detailed plan of activities and when we arrived we changed just about everything to adapt to the people we were ministering to and their needs.   Good News!!!   We have an  incredible  student body.  They are hungry to learn sound theology but also to develop solid character.  We have encouraged an atmosphere of accountability where the students are able to talk about their weaknesses and temptations and even of their failures and feel that they are safe and will receive support in overcoming the problem areas.  The students recognize sin and they don’t desire to continue in it so they seek help.   We hope they are developing a habit of accountability that they will continue through their lives.  One of the main reasons given for so many fallen leaders has been that  they thought they could overcome their problems   by themselves.  If they had had a mentor or an accountability partner who could pray and encourage them and give them tools to freedom, maybe they would still be in the ministry today.  We are happy that our students have been vulnerable and ...
