Mission Trip to La Guajira

Another group of students had the opportunity to go to an indigenous community in La Guajira over spring break. This indigenous community is very separated from society and they have a limited supply of water and food. There are no bathrooms, no showers, and very few hours of electricity. The students were able to live as the people of the village the week they were there and they learned a lot about the true importance of life and following Jesus instead of focusing on material things.


During the trip, they did church services every night and were with the women, men, and children doing different activities and workshops throughout the day. The students were able to close the gap of cultural differences and create trust with the people of Guajira. In the workshop with the men, the students taught about the importance of honoring their wives and many of the men gave a flower to their wife for the first time.
There was need for a lot of spiritual warfare in this village due to the high rate of witchcraft and CPN students felt this very strongly throughout the trip. However, they were able to come together in unity and stand in the promises of the Spirit and overcome the oppression they were feeling.



Even though they experienced much discomfort such as using the bathroom in the middle of the desert, sleeping in hammocks, not having water available at all times, etc. they were able to experience the love of Jesus on a deeper level. First-year Christ for the Nations student, Camila, says, “We were able to make a difference in their lives and encourage them to go beyond the customs of their culture and rise up to be examples of what it means to honor God in their personal lives and also in their families.”





“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20

Tired Of Fighting Alone?

How are YOU doing... today ?   As a result of the pandemic situation, many people have found themselves fighting some type of battle - and many of them were fighting all ALONE.   IN OUR CASE ...   the Lord had us start the project for the Christian School about 4 years ago.  There are a lot of people affected by the project and many families counting on it for their children.  Last week, we got to a point where it looked like it would be impossible to see the fulfillment of that project.  It looked like it could be finished.  We want to share some ideas on how we were able to walk through the despair of feeling like we were about to lose everything.  1.  PEACE -  Recently I (Jerry) caught myself in "just hang on and survive" gear... but God got in my face and reminded us that He LEADS me by His peace .  Satan wants to DRIVE us compulsively , but God wants to DRAW us compassionately .  I know it sounds too simple, but the Bible tells us; " Don't worry about anything

I think it was Einstein who wrote this famous quote: “ Insanity is doing the same thing over and over  and expecting different results .” Most of the Christians I know, and I include myself,…don’t want 2023 to be just a repeat of 2022.
